Students interview our French Assistant

Noeline Burden —

Laetitia is our 2020 French assistante. We share her with Columba College and Bayfield High School.

What do you enjoy about teaching in New Zealand?

“Most of the time there are less students which makes classes easier to teach. There are less hours so you have less classes to prepare for and have more time to relax. “

Are there any differences between New Zealand schools and schools in France?

“No unisex schools in France. No big difference in the way you have to teach.

Teachers can't be too strict and need to give constructive criticism”

What would you like to take back from New Zealand schools back to France?

“New Zealand schools have more positive reinforcement and reward you for everything you do rather than expect you to be good. New Zealand has more constructive criticism. New Zealand has extra curricular activities and non academic subjects such as foods and fabrics or more artistic subjects. New Zealand also has activities to include the entire school that are non academic such as house days or cultural events.”

Merci Laetitia
