Students’ Success

Jorja Gibbons is a finalist in the Emerging Talent Individual Girls category at the Otago Sports Awards, being held this evening. It is rewarding to see Jorja being recognised for her outstanding Athletics achievements.

Otago Secondary Schools Swimming Championships – Mereana Martin won the Over 15, 50 metre backstroke event, achieving an Otago record. She was also victorious in the 100 metre backstroke and managed two second place finishes in the Otago Over 15, 50 metre and 100 metre freestyle events. Abby McBride also achieved impressive results, with a first place in the 14 and Under, 50 and 100 metre freestyle events and second places in the 14 and Under 400 metre freestyle and 50 metre fly events. Excellent results from our two students.

This weekend three students are travelling to Wellington to represent Otago in the Volleyball New Zealand Inter-Provincial Championships. We wish Stephanie Finau (Under 17), Mili Tudreu, and Blaise Perry (both Under 19) all the best for this tournament.

Cross Country Series

Our cross country representatives were in action recently at the Caversham Relay. This week the team competed in Milton and next week they will race in the Otago Cross Country Championships, good luck!

Rugby Sevens

The season started well, with three weeks of Sevens to get players back into the game. The Junior team played some great rugby, with some sound teamwork and outstanding individual performances. The team only lost to one other school throughout the competition and that team went on to win the Pool A competition. Brigid, Coach, is really pleased with the way the team developed and everyone is looking forward to the 10s competition starting in a couple of weeks.
