Assessment Procedures for Senior Students

Queen's High School —

Please find attached a copy of the Queen’s High School NCEA Assessment Procedures.

All senior students will receive an electronic copy of this information and their subject teachers have been outlining the important aspects of this document over these first weeks at school.

If NCEA is new to you and your daughter, or if you would like a recap about it, this link will take you to a six-minute video explaining how NCEA works. https://goo.gl/fVnURj

The standards (assessment tasks) that each subject will be working towards, along with their due date and credit value, are in each subject area course outline, which your daughter will now have received in each of her classes.

Please take the time to look over these with your daughter so you both have a clear understanding of the courses she is taking, and the workload involved. It is important that students understand that they must undertake and complete all the NCEA standards that each subject (area) teaches and assesses. This includes both internal and external standards. Failure to keep up with the workload or meet deadlines may result in a student not being granted the privilege of representing Queen’s in extracurricular activities. Failure to complete and pass the course content at any level may also result in a student not being eligible to continue studying that subject the following year.

Progress Reports will continue to be emailed home fortnightly. These will indicate any concerns a teacher may have about a student’s application and effort. In the first instance, please contact your daughter’s subject teacher to follow up on a concerning grade. The Parent Portal is another excellent way to track your daughter's progress, as it will inform you of what internally assessed standards she has completed and the grades that she received, as well as comments from each of her teachers.

If you have queries or concerns at any stage throughout the year, please contact the year level Dean for your daughter.
