Congratulations to the 2019 Academic Blue recipients

Kia ora koutou

We have once again, had another busy two weeks at Queen’s. Outstanding achievement was celebrated at our Academic Blues assembly today, where our Academic Prefect, Rahaf Almabaid, spoke to the school about taking  opportunities, having a “now or never" attitude and that hard work does pay off. She went on to say to us all, that she decided not to be held back by her fears or insecurities, nor by other people’s assumptions and judgements and that we must do the same.  With 25 students receiving a blue, it was a great occasion for both the students and their whanau.

Our Athletics and House Day was the usual mix of fun activities, great team work and colourful outfits, which sat alongside outstanding athletic performances. Congratulations to our age group champions – Neve Darlington and Gracie Young (U14), Amber Park (U15), Jodie Hyatt (U16) and the Senior Champion, Serena Evile. Pickering House was named Champion House for the third year running, in what was a very close competition. Good luck to all the girls going on to represent Queen’s at the Otago Secondary School Championships.

We hosted the Year 9 Parent evening this week and I would like to thank all the parents and caregivers who attended. It was great to meet so many of our new parents and to share with them information about what is happening here at Queen’s.

To support our focus on achievement, we will send progress reports fortnightly with the second report being emailed next week. If you have changed your email address or did not receive a report please check your details on the Parent Portal and send in a correction if necessary. It is an expectation that students are at school on time, this means all girls need to be at school by 8.40am, and I ask you to support your daughter to ensure this happens.
