Te Ao Haka

Cherie Ford —

Queen’s and King’s High Schools have been selected onto the pilot for Te Ao Haka, the new Māori Performing Arts subject, for all NCEA levels, including University Entrance this year.

We are two of only five schools across the South Island to be included in the pilot, which involves around 30 schools nationwide. Taught by the He Waka Kōtuia lead tutor Komene Cassidy, our students have been involved in their first two day wānanga, held here at Queen’s, last week. It’s an amazing kaupapa, which has been a long time coming, that we are excited to be a part of.
