Year 13 Student Cheyenne Little wins a 'speedy' prize!

Lesley Signal-Cambridge —

Last Friday a group of senior students attended the New Dunedin Hospital Careers Fair at Wingatui, run by Workforce Central Dunedin and My Next Move.

The students learnt about careers involved in the construction and operation of the new hospital through a range of interactive activities and challenges. The students particularly enjoyed the hands on nature of the experiences, and valued the opportunity to make links with employers, and to instigate opportunities for workplace visits and experiences. The first hand knowledge shared with them enabled the students to get a valuable insight into working in these sectors, and the opportunities in the future.

Schools visited the Careers Fair on Friday - but students were invited to return on the Saturday, and to take Whānau to share in the experience. There was a special prize draw for school students who attended on Friday and returned on Saturday with their whānau – the lucky winner of this prize was Cheyenne Little! The prize was donated by Highlands Motorsport Park, and Cheyenne won a Taycan Takeoff Experience (in an all-electric Porsche) for three people!  Haley McManus from My Next Move and Hannah Beede from Workforce Central Dunedin, came to school and presented the prize to Cheyenne.

Cheyenne can't wait to experience this adventure.
