Well done to all the performers for a wonderful musical. Also a massive thank you to everyone who made it happen and came along to support both of our school communities.

Queens of the Pacific performed last week at the Pioneers Samoan Language week celebration held at Bathgate Park School. The girls also ran competitions within the school around Samoan Language to spread an awareness of the language and culture. Malo lava!

Last Friday Charlotte Bathgate and some Year 13 students organised Gumboot Day to promote positive attitudinal societal change around mental health throughout New Zealand.

The Year 12 and 13 Chemistry students have been busy this term working on interesting projects.

Last week Year 9 French invited Nichola Johnston from Alliance Française to come along and help them with their cultural project, based around crêpes. While we might associate crêpes with dessert, they used to be a savoury staple of families with little money. We got to sample some “crêpes de blé noir (savoury Buckwheat crêpes), and to make and eat some sweet crêpes with the most divine salted caramel sauce. Some other year levels were also lucky to sample the crêpes. Merci à tous.

A couple of weeks ago, Junior Queen's students were invited to take part in a Science Wānanga at Puketeraki Marae.

Last Friday, two teams of students competed in the 2021 Ethics Olympiad where we discussed ethical dilemmas with other schools across New Zealand.

On Thursday 27 May the students in the Year 11 Foods class worked with some of the children from the Queen’s Pre-school.

Recently at the South Coast Boardriders prize-giving, the team had some great results. All of the girls were a part of the junior team that won the top junior club for all of the South Island, which is a fantastic achievement!

Last weekend Georgia Tomlinson competed at the Margaret Woolf Memorial Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition in Auckland, where her group came home with a bronze medal and they reached the qualification score for NZ Nationals.They are currently ranked 4th in the country for Group and will find out next week if they make the team to represent Otago at the New Zealand Nationals.

The ESOL students had some celebrations this week.

Thankfulness Week NZ is during 14-20 June 2021 in the darkest coldest week of the year and our goal is to reach as many Kiwi’s as possible with the message that thinking of three things every day that you are thankful for is great for your mental healthiness.
