This term the ESOL students have been swimming at Carisbrook pool on Thursday afternoons. For some girls it was their first time in a pool and so it has been quite an experience and amazing to see everyone's progress. Thank you to Mrs Finnie and Nicky Homan for helping out. The girls have also been having tutorial sessions for Science and Maths with our bilingual tutor, Abdallah. These are held on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

Year 9 French Term 1

by Cherianne Parks

The first rotation for Year 9 options finishes this week. In French we have been working on having a simple conversation, exploring some language acquisition using movement, tried macaroons, built our own Eiffel Towers, used Education Perfect, and participated in a number of other activities. We were lucky to have Paige, one of our Year 13 French students, come along to class once a week, so this provided the girls with some valuable additional speaking practice opportunities.

People Like Us

by Caitlyn Petrie

This week a group of curious Queen’s girls ventured in to the conservation and climate change workshop run by the Otago museum. We learnt about four different role model’s paths to how they have a career in benefiting the climate within areas of science. Within this workshop, we gained many relationships with people of similar interest to us and took heaps away about how so many different areas can link to conservation and climate change topics. Overall, it was a really fun and insightful experience and we learnt so much!
