Aerobics Success!
Recently all the Queen's aerobics team members competed successfully at the NZCAF Otago Schools Aerobics championships. All of the students qualified for Nationals and gained medals in their categories.

Congratulations to Cai Heperi-Smart who recently competed in the regional finals of the 2020 Smokefree Rockquest. She performed with her band Fool of Stars. As well as being awarded 2nd place in the competition and securing a place in the National finals, Cai was also presented with the musicianship award. Good luck for the finals!

Congratulations to ex Queen's student Emily Gordon who has just been awarded a Fulbright New Zealand award. She will now complete a PhD in Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. Emily graduated with a BSc in Physics and Electronics in 2017, and a BSc (Hons First Class) in Physics in 2018 from the University of Otago. Well done Emily, what great news!

As part of their investigation into sustainable energy sources, Ella Lawson, Ella McBride and Chloe Skaf visited the home of Bill and Kim Currie. Bill is a director of Powerhouse Wind, the company that developed the Thinair Wind Turbine - a single blade wind turbine system, which is used in various parts of New Zealand and in the Pacific.

9Abb are currently studying the novel The Bone Sparrow in their English classes. The novel is set in a refugee detention centre, and the protagonist is a Rohingya child, born in the camp. Subhi struggles with things that make him feel powerless and/or anxious, and with utter boredom.
