During the holidays a number of Queen’s students completed a ten day online Girlboss healthcare course. During the ten days we heard from a number of healthcare professionals; they explained what they do, and what inspired them to do it.

In the first week of the school holidays, I took part in a programme for young Year 11, 12, and 13 women from around the country called Innovative Young Minds.

Last term senior drama students competed in the annual Shakespeare festival with both acts making it through to the finals.

At the start of the holidays the Queen's and King's Choir were invited to perform for the Dunedin Arts Festival. It was great to get out in the community and perform the first big performance of the year.

During the holidays Leilani Kara, Tiara Nafatali, Ana Finau and Symone Washington attended a programme run by Sisters United, named Crown Yourself.

At the end of last term eight Queen’s athletes headed to Christchurch to compete in the South Island Athletics Championships. It was an awesome weekend and was great to see so many girls out on the track representing Queen’s.

In 2018 Year 13 Physics students had the opportunity to meet astronaut Michael Hopkins. He is now currently on the international space station blasting around the earth every hour and half at 27,000 km/h. He returned to earth this week. It is amazing what sort of people you can meet when you take the opportunity.

Welcome back to Term 2! I hope everyone had a relaxing holiday and have enjoyed their first week back at school. Last term we had students participating in a variety of dance events representing Queen’s and community dance in Dunedin.
