Greetings to all our Parents / Caregivers
Exciting Creativity
Check out this amazing moon buggy designed, created and built by senior pupils this week. This buggy is battery powered and these highly creative entrepreneurs could be going into production. They were certainly proud of their efforts.
End of Term 2
As we come to the end of term 2, we, like many schools have been coping with the impact of the flu, colds and gastro bugs as well as Covid with pupils and staff. We have had record numbers of children and staff who have been away with sickness over this past week. Thank you for your support and understanding as you have kept sick children at home. You would have read this week about another predicted Omricon wave. Like many schools at the moment we have literally been holding out till this last day of term without having to close part or all of the school.
Welcome to new our pupils this term:
We warmly welcome all our new families who have started with us this term. We hope the children have settled in well and have made some nice friendships. Welcome to our new Mums & Dads also. We are really looking forward to getting to know you as the year goes on.
Road Crossing
We ask that you are vigilant about crossing Queenspark Drive only at the supervised crossing that is controlled by our senior Road Patrol pupils. This sets the example particularly to our younger students. Thank you for your support here.
Gymnastics:
Well done to all our QPS gymnasts who competed in the recent gym competition. Check out the article on how well they performed. We have so many talented children at Queenspark School.
Board of Trustees
Have you thought of becoming a Board of Trustees member and being part of a team that oversees the governance of the school? We are coming to the time in July when we will be calling for nominations for the Queenspark Board of Trustees. If this is you, we would love to hear from you. Ph 383 1578 and I am more than happy to discuss with you whatâs involved here.
Kahui Ako
This year our school has joined a group of local schools called the ĹtÄkaro
KÄhui ako. The schools that make up this group include Shirley Boys High School, Avonside Girls High School, Waitikiri Primary, Shirley Intermediate, Shirley Primary, Chisnalwood Intermediate, Parkview Primary and Banks Avenue School. We are enjoying this network of schools and the opportunity to work with local Principals and teachers as well as the additional resources and professional development opportunities for our school.
We have been advised about the following CCC work in the Queenspark Reserve.
Maintenance and new works will be actioned in and around the Queenspark Reserve Netball Courts during the upcoming school holidays. Work will begin during the second week of the school holidays (18 July) and between the hours of 8:30am and 4:00pm.
Media Team
Check out the attached communique from our senior Media Team. They have done an excellent job on reporting about the many exciting learning activities that have been happening across our school this term. This is a shining example of a self managing, independent and highly motivated team of senior students who were given a job brief and then stepped up to the task. Wow! What a great result.
Special thanks to Greer, Hazel, Hayley, Skye, Willoughby, Sam, Leon, Sebastian and Tayler from the Year 7/8 team.
Final word....Here is one example of dedication to the cause at QPS.. It is pouring with rain and our students still keep on smiling! Go Grace and our Road Patrol Team who battle the winter weather each week. We all appreciate the effort you put in for us all to be safe at school - NgÄ mihi maioha!
Wishing you all some quality time with your families over this holiday break.
Regards
