Cathedral Grammar Open Day:

Comprising one event per week over winter, the programme kicks off on Sunday 30 June when The Cathedral Grammar Junior School opens its doors and its rooftop playground for all to encounter for one day only.

https://www.facebook.com/events/1177364139132613/

This open building will be of particular interest to school aged families.

Many of the school’s key spaces are outdoors. So if the weather is fine, make sure you try the slide and get a view from above.

Come along and enjoy the behind-the-scenes access between 10am and 4pm, when you can encounter this special building on your own terms and at your own pace.

Our aim is to bring more people back into the central city and to experience architecture on their own terms and at their own pace.

This includes school students as our open buildings are three very different inner-city schools - all engaging examples of how design impacts students' experiences when they are at school.

Two very different inner-city school buildings open in the weeks that follow: the stunning heritage building, Christ’s College Memorial Dining Hall (Sunday 4 August); and Ao Tawhiti, Christchurch’s only vertical school (Saturday 7 September).

Brick Show:

The Christchurch Brick Show is back again organising and promoting our annual Lego Brick Show to be held in Horncastle Arena on 13th and 14th July 2019. The Christchurch Brick Show is listed as a key event in the Kids fest magazine

Some of our highlights this year will be a 7m long LEGO interactive carnival scene and back on display we will have the LEGO replica of the New Brighton Pier.

We are excited to have more than 200 exhibitors displaying an assorted variety of LEGO sets and individual creations. Children will have the opportunity to go hands-on with various LEGO focused activities in Imagination Station’s huge build and learn zone. Free activities include building spaces, mechanics benches, mosaic walls, gaming area, remote control LEGO vehicles and epic ramp races.

We would like to request your support in our event, by promoting this within your school newsletter and / or social media websites.

NZ Police - Non Emergency Number:

NZ Police recently launched a new non emergency number, 105. We’ve done this to make it easier to get hold of us in the event of non-urgent situations or ‘Things which have Already Happened’, which don’t require Police assistance immediately.

You can call us on 105 for all non emergencies, or you can go online at 105.police.govt.nz to report things like:

- Lost property

- Theft for a public place or car

- Intentional property damage

- Or to get an update or add info to a previous report

In the event of an emergency, always call 111 - Things that are Happening Now.

Car Parking /Vigilance

A huge reminder to PLEASE take care when pulling in and out of car parks close to school.  One of our parents was hit this week (not badly but could have been) because the driver did not look.  Please be careful when dropping off and/or picking up students.  Our little people are hard to see sometimes.  Please use the school crossing always when crossing over Queenspark Drive.
