Message from the Principal

Pauline Jansen —

Pauline Jansen - Acting Principal, Term 2

Dear Parents and Whānau,

It is hard to believe we have already come to the shortest day of the year, the upshot is we are that much closer to many warmer days ahead.

A big thumbs of to those of you who have supported the health and wellbeing of others by keeping students home who are unwell, this term particularly has seen a rise sickness amongst our tamariki.

Literacy Month - This month we have been immersed across the school in literacy activities and events. Maree Silver-Hessey our resident librarian has been the mastermind behind a very successful month. We have had author visits, book swaps, competitions, book character day dress up and even a 'human library'. Thank you also for your support at the book fair that was held on the evenings of parent conferences, this was another opportunity to raise money for our school library.

The students have also been learning Mandarin this year as part of the senior language programme with our Mandarin Learning Assistant, Cathy. The students and staff will spend 5 days at the summer camp along with visits to the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven as well as The Great Wall of China. A special thank you to Rotary for their generous donation to provide travel polo tops for the students and staff. These will be presented at our final school assembly for Term 2.
