Team Learning

Rebecca Taylor —

What's been happening in the Teams this term?

YR2/3:

The Year 2/3 Team had a great day at the Canterbury Museum. We learned about dinosaurs and fossils, we got to play some games from long ago, and spent time in the Discovery Room.

Do you have any small race cars at home?

The Year 2/3 are on the lookout for hot wheels cars or similar. If you have any small cars, race tracks, road maps, etc, and no longer need them please can you send them to Mrs Sullivan in the New Building.

YR4/5

This term the Year 4/5 team’s writing focus has been focusing on writing quality descriptions.

Enjoy these delightful snippets from our students’ work.

Mum gives the biggest bear hugs and comforts me when I'm sad. My mum is always late, it drives Dad crazy! She is kind-hearted, smart and has a great memory. It's annoying because she always reminds me to do my homework.

Sophie S NB4

My mum has dark brown eyes like a dark chimpanzee. She has long black eyelashes that reflect the sun. She has long black hair that's sparkly.

Jamie NB4

Sophie looks like a fashion model that is about to do a show. She has nice black hair. Her hair is as long as a monkey.

Ben NB4

Dad goes to the gym so he is as strong as a gorilla.

Jah NB3

At times she is like a beautiful butterfly that flutters around the house and fixes things. She is as pretty as a monarch butterfly.

Tayla NB3

My brother Timothy is as tall as a giraffe. One time he was supposed to fit in a kid’s go-kart but he was too lanky. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

Leathan NB3

Zoey has eyes as blue as the summer sky. She is as funny as a joking jester and is as crazy as a clown and as energetic as a bolt of lightning.

Luke Room 22

My dad is tall like a skyscraper with thick shoulders. They are like rocks. He is as bald as an elephant.

Sam Room 22

My mum's hair is yellow like the sun glowing in the desert. When my mum puts on her makeup she glows like the full moon. She looks like a butterfly glowing in the dark.

Sohan Room 22

She has warm, brown eyes like melted chocolate dripping into my mouth. She has long, beautiful, black eyelashes. Mum's hair is curly, black and it just brushes the top of her shoulders.

Charlie NB3

She has straight brown hair. It shines in the sun. Her warm brown eyes sparkle in the light. Shiny white teeth are easy to spot like the moon at night.

Matthew NB3

Mum is kind, loving and caring to animals in natural forests. She's as sneaky and cheeky as a little monkey can possibly be. She’s always great at helping me and family members when she can.

Xander NB3

Charlie wears baggy rags and old clothes. He is skinny and bony as a skeleton. His hair is scruffy brown. Charlie has blue glittering eyes that can shimmer in the lightest sea waters.

Luca NB3

Mum has good hearing. If I try to go to the kitchen to get food, she hears every little creak on the floor or crackle of a packet. “What are you doing?” she grumbles.

Cooper Room 24

Pete’s got metallic grey coloured hair. It's incredibly fuzzy, especially after a haircut. It's lovely, but he’s losing it bit by bit.

Lilly Room 24

Her pruned face looks like she’s been in the bath too long. She looks like a popstar when she puts on sunglasses.

Millie Room 24

Canterbury Primary School Gymnastics Competition

What amazing results QPS had at the Canterbury Primary School Gymnastics Competition on Wednesday 16th of June!

All children performed superbly after months of hard work and practices. We had lots of extremely high scores and personal bests, even a perfect score!

I am so proud of the 3 R's everyone demonstrated. QPS dominated the team results with first places across the board and many individual overall and apparatus placings.

Kapa Haka visit and perform at the Rehua Marae:

On Saturday 26th June, 72 of our Senior Kapa Haka tamariki performed at the Rehua Marae Whānau Day. They were on the stage for around 15 minutes and performed 7 waiata to help celebrate Matariki.

Afterwards they were able to enjoy the other entertainment that was provided as well as sample some traditional Māori kai, attend flax weaving workshops, take part in Matariki activities and have a look at the stalls that showcased Māori artworks.

It was a fabulous day for all who attended. Thank you to our whānau who continue to support our Senior Kapa Haka.

YR7/8:

The YR7/8 team are looking for a parent who could help on alternate Thursdays with Kindy Buddies.

We have a group of students who spend lunchtime 12.30-1.30pm at the kindergarten next door interacting with the children. To enable this to continue we need a parent to accompany them.

If you are available on alternate Thursdays at this time please contact the school office or any of the senior teachers.

Thank you in advance.
