News for Week 4

Jacinta Wooldridge —

Tēnā koutou katoa

We are hoping that you are getting through these weeks well as we head to warmer weather.  The children are settled and are doing great things with their learning.

  • Board of Trustee Elections - Voting opens 13 August

Next week you will receive voting papers for the Triennial School Board Elections.  Thank you to the parents who have come my way to discuss what is involved as a school board member.  Most of these people  have decided to stand for the board elections and we acknowledge their willingness to go through this process.  We have been blessed over many years to have had really strong Boards of Trustees made up of highly talented and reflective people  in the governorship of our school.

Please take the time to read the candidate summaries and then cast your vote.

Voting closes on the 10th September.

  • NZEI PUM ( Paid Union Meeting )

Monday 25th August - 12.30pm finish

CHILDREN COMING HOME EARLY

  • On Monday 25th August we are asking that you collect your child at 12.30pm.  Our staff will be involved in an important NZEI Te Riu Roa teacher union meeting.  These meetings are nationwide to discuss issues around our Primary Teacher Collective Agreement negotiations.

After school care is available at Queenspark Kids from 12:30pm. Please contact Ashleigh on:  ashleigh@qct.org.nz

Thank you for your anticipated support here to enable our staff to attend.

  • Cell phones in bedrooms

We are noticing that a good number of our children  who have mobile phones are arriving at school very tired and not in a fit state for learning.  Some of these students are up most of the night on their phones and certainly not sleeping.  Can you please have a conversation with your son or daughter about this if this is an issue in your house.  Our expectation is that phones are handed into you as part of childrens routines as they prepare for sleep time each night.  Thank you for your anticipated support here.

  • International Students

Today we farewelled our wonderful group of international students from Taiwan. It was a pleasure to have them with us for the past two weeks, and we know they've created lasting memories and friendships. We wish them all the best for their journey home.

  • Girls Senior Basketball

We are proud of the girls basketball team, who played with incredible grit and determination in their game on Wednesday.

  • Rock Band

A huge congratulations also goes out to "Rumble House" our very own Queenspark Mānuka Rock Band. They delivered an electrifying performance at the "Rolling Stone" venue in town last Saturday afternoon. Their hard work paid off and they represented our school with immense talent and passion.

  • Our Jump Jam Team - Best of Luck!

We are incredibly proud of our Jump Jam team as they head into competition this weekend. The students have shown great dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm throughout their preparations. We know they will represent our school with pride and energy. Best of luck to all involved. We will be cheering you on.

  • Kapa Haka Festival

Looking ahead, we're all excited for the Kahu Ako Festival coming up next Tuesday, August 12. To all the students participating, we wish you the very best. Kia kaha, you've all put in a lot of hard work and we can't wait to see your performance.

Enjoy this weekend

Kind Regards
