Week 1 Term 3

Greetings, Kia Ora, Tālofa lava, Mālō e lelei, Kia Orāna, Mauri,

Dear Parents / Caregivers,

Welcome to term 3. We trust that you have had some good quality time over the recent holiday break. The children are in fine form and they have started the term well. We are looking forward to all our children fully embracing the many learning opportunities available at our wonderful school this term.

New Fence:

This Ministry of Education project is now complete. Like many schools now we have our share of children with trauma issues and who will run from school when anxiety levels become extreme. As you can imagine this is very difficult for schools to manage in order to maintain safety levels for all. Hence our new fence. It is an adjustment for all of us.

Access during the day is via the front gate. Simply pop your hand through the gate and push down on the red button at the top. Then lift upwards to access via the front gate.

Learning Conferences

We look forward to connecting with lots of parents and caregivers next week at our Mid Year Learning Conferences. If you haven't made a time to meet your child's teacher, you can still do so until the end of Monday. The online bookings will then close and the teacher will send a confirmation letter home with your day and time.

International Students

Over the first few weeks of this term we are hosting a group of International students from China.

A number of our families are homestaying our visitors and they will find this a most enriching experience I'm sure. These opportunities are always a wonderful cultural experience for all of us at school and it is great to see this programme going again post Covid.

This week our children have been doing a wonderful job looking after our Chinese students, showing them around our school and teaching them about life in New Zealand. It is quite special to watch how children communicate and connect with others from another culture and country despite the language barrier.

Our children have been simply outstanding here and we can all feel really proud of our QPS students. If you see any of the Chinese parents before and after school please say hi and extend a warm and friendly welcome.
