Last week our Year 6 Learning Team took part in a full day Ki-o-Rahi tournament held at Queenspark School
Ki-o-Rahi is a traditional Māori ball game that the Year 6 students have been taught during the year. We have normally entered teams in an Eastern Tournament but due to covid restrictions this was canceled so we decided to run our own day.
It was great to see 80 children out there experiencing a full day of sports. A big emphasis was place on the Māori values of MANAAKITANGA (players interacting positively with their teammates and other teams), KOTAHITANGA (Demonstrating unity through teamwork and encouraging others) and RANGATIRATANGA (Demonstrating leadership on and off the field). This was a really special day for all of the students involved.
