Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari kē he toa takitini
This whakatauki acknowledges team effort, that one’s success is due to the support and contribution of many.
This Māori proverb is so very appropriate for us at this time of the year. Many people are working in and out of our school to make it a better place for everyone. Referring to ‘team’ means the PTA, Board, staff and students who are actively involved. I feel very privileged to work alongside this team doing the māhi.
Next week the senior leadership team will be meeting with our Education Review Office (ERO) partner, Mike Fowler. The Board and staff have agreed on the following priorities for us to develop over the next 3 years;
Building community collaborations that enrich opportunities for students to become confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learners.
Implementing a localised curriculum and monitoring its impact on student engagement, motivation and achievement.
Implementing and monitoring of strategies to develop tikanga and te reo Māori.
You will receive a survey next week requesting feedback on our start-of-year and end-of-year dates for 2024. We try to meet the needs of families as we plan these dates. Please look out for this google survey.
You will have noticed our site being transformed with new buildings being placed and groundwork being prepared. Southbase continues to do an awesome job for us! There are a number of other projects planned to improve our buildings. The pool will be getting a new roof as well as the administration block. This scope of work will not occur until early next year. Our basement area under the Hall is also expected to be upgraded. The ECE playcentre is expected to accommodate their site later next term. From next week the retaining wall behind the playcentre and our classrooms will be blocked off. Contractors will begin upgrading this wall as it requires immediate attention to stabilise it. All in all a very busy site at QPS!!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!
Nga mihi
