Kia ora e ngā whanau o Te Kura Tuatahi o Tāhuna
The first of 3 Year 6 Camps to Stewart Island took place this week. They experienced every season while on the island and by the looks of the photos on our QPS facebook page they seem to have had an awesome time. Thank you so much to all of you who supported the fundraisers throughout the year to enable this Camp to go ahead at a minimal cost for parents. We aim to raise $20,000 every year and generally always meet this target.
Our QPS PTA are an outstanding group of people who quietly work away in the background raising funds to support our tamariki. Recently, we received $20,000 as a contribution towards our new junior playground to meet the shortfall from the MoE. Ngā mihi! PTA members have also decorated the Hall for a Halloween Disco tonight….you guys rock! Without your time and energy commitment our tamariki would miss out.
I visited our new classrooms this week and am very pleased with the progress made in preparation for our years 5-8 students and teachers moving into these during the last week of Term 4. Board members and some of the SLT have worked long and hard to get us to this point, what a celebration we will have when the project is completed. Aside from the new classrooms we are also expecting 2 new astro turf courts and a full size basketball court. Our grounds will be landscaped and future proofed for a bike track later.
Enjoy your weekend everyone!
