Kia ora whānau

Today I have had the absolute pleasure of spending the day supporting our Kapa Haka group who were performing at the annual Haka Tū Haka Ora competition.

It would have to be one of the proudest moments of my time at QPS watching our school Kapa Haka group perform one of the strongest 15 minute sets in recent years.

It was spine tingling leadership from Hineamaru and Teo. What was most impressive was that this year’s set was completely new for 2024. The group have spent countless hours on Friday nights and Sundays fine tuning their performance. Ka pai te mahi.

The group thoroughly deserved to win - First place Haka, First place Poi, Best boy, Best girl and overall winning Ropu.

It was a tear in your eye moment when the school welcomed the group back onto site with all the trophies.

A massive whakamihi to our tutors Tania and Jess for their mōhiotanga and guidance, Miracle for her wonderful strumming, Tamika’s wonderful hair styling, Ms Thorne, Matua Corey for their leadership and to all the parents who have supported in the background.

Most importantly Kia ora to this special group of students. You have done the school, your parents and yourselves proud. E waka eke noa- we all in this together.

If you missed the performance you can watch it here - we are the first group to perform https://fb.watch/sQQ9hCiNfs/

Ngā mihi,
