Mark your calendars and get ready to send our QPS teachers and staff into Lake Whakatipu!

On Friday, August 18th, the PTA is hosting a Polar Plunge to help raise funds for the new, and much needed, junior playground. Our list of willing participants is growing by the day and starting on August 7th, the QPS community will start ‘voting’ for who gets into that 8c water - brrr!

How it will work:

1. Seeking & Confirming Participants (in progress)

   1. QPS teachers and administrators volunteer to take the plunge

      1. Parents/carers are also welcome to get involved to get sent into the lake, if you’re keen to add your name to the list, please let us know at the bottom of the help form.

   2. Local businesses and organisations get involved to help raise donations, by sending their own team members into the lake

      1. If you know of any businesses/organisations that’d like to get involved, please let us know via the help form.

2. Bidding Begins! (7 to 13 August)

   1. Students and the QPS community will ‘vote’ with donations, to decide which volunteers will submerge themselves/get dunked

   2. Donations can be made via the school shop or with cash at the QPS office

3. Winners announced & prep begins! (14 August)

   1. Winners confirmed and announced

   2. Winners have the option to prepare themselves by partaking in a Wim Hof session offered by Live Wild NZ, to help unlock the health benefits of cold water immersion

   3. Students help design costumes for the winners to wear into the lake

4. Immersion & Dunking (Friday, 18 August, 3:15pm, Lake’s Edge)

   1. Join us at the Lake Whakatipu main beach to watch our volunteers get into the lake!

   2. Hot chocolates and treats will be available for purchase on the day to help keep watchers warm

   3. The crowd will vote for ‘best dressed’ and prizes will be gifted
