Code of Conduct and ICT Policy
The Queenstown Primary School Code of Conduct for International Students aims to ensure that adults and students know and understand the expectations of the school.
Code of Conduct for Students
Our Values
Students will show Care, Respect and Integrity at all times.
Self-managing
Play in appropriate areas - avoid playing in the car parks, gardens, caretaker sheds, toilets and cloakrooms.
Kick balls on field and grass areas.
Do not bring these items to school - matches, solvents, chemicals, cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, chewing gum, sweets, pocket knives, jewellery (other than studs, watches and approved cultural jewellery).
Walk bikes, scooters and skates/skateboards in the school grounds.
Wear your uniform with pride.
Do the right thing, in the right place, at the right time.
Use your manners and be courteous.
Understand and respect our school rules.
Team Player
Play safe, sensible games.
Play fairly.
Healthy
In Terms 1 and 4, wear a sunhat to and from school and outside during play and sport times.
Avoid climbing trees, fences, goalposts and buildings.
Keep yourself and others safe
Self-Aware
Accept responsibility for your actions.
Accept the consequences that may arise from your actions.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
The student agrees to the following:
The use of ICT equipment at school is for school tasks during class.
Will have their own password, they will log on only with that password and will log off before letting someone else use the device. They will not tell their password to anyone.
If they are unsure and not feeling safe at any time they will tell the teacher immediately.
They will not attempt to search for things online that they know are not acceptable to our school. If they accidentally find unacceptable, mean, rude or dangerous things on the computer or any other equipment/device, they will tell the teacher straight away, without showing any other children.
They will not download any files or programs to a computer's hard drive or from the Google app store without the teacher's permission.
They will not use equipment or devices to bully, harass or post online mean, rude, offensive material.
They will not attempt to get around or bypass, monitoring, filtering or security that is in place at the school.
They will not give out any personal information when using the internet or a mobile phone unless my teacher says it’s ok. Personal information includes name, address, email address, phone numbers and photos.
They will respect all school ICT equipment and will treat it with care. If they misuse school equipment, the family will be charged for the cost of repair or full replacement.
If they do not follow this policy their computer licence may be revoked and the school may need to contact the family and take disciplinary action.
The family agree to the above conditions of using ICT equipment at Queenstown Primary School and agree to payment for damaged equipment
Code of Conduct for Parents and Caregivers
Show respect for others and the school environment.
Avoid interrupting class programmes - make appointments for in-depth discussions.
Treat all persons associated with the school with respect and courtesy.
Allow staff to supervise, investigate and manage students without interference.
Avoid discussing negatively students/staff/other parents.
Model the code of conduct for students i.e. bringing items to school, walking bikes etc in the playground, accepting and supporting the consequences of students' inappropriate behaviour.
Park in approved areas only.
No parent will directly approach another person’s child at school.
The school will deal with issues between students
Parents must sign in at the school office and sign out when they leave the school premises.
Parents are not permitted to park in the school car park.
No child is to be dropped off or picked up in the school car park.
No parent is to access the school via the main driveway.
Please read this Code of Conduct with your child to ensure everyone knows and understands the expectations of the school. These are common sense expectations to encourage positive behaviours, and will help us achieve a safe working and playing environment at Queenstown Primary School.
