Please see the below pānui from Otago Regional Council.

Kia ora,

As you may know, we have some bus route and timetable changes coming up from Monday, 30 June 2025. As this is the school holidays, we wanted to send you some information about the changes before then.

The changes aim to increase the capacity on buses travelling between Arrowtown, Queenstown and Jack’s Point, and provide better journeys for passengers.

The changes will see services expanded, some frequencies increased and there will be better connections, including an Arrowtown – Arthur's Point - Queenstown – Jack's Point route via Malaghans Road (Route 4).

Updated route maps and timetables are available at orc.govt.nz/QTbuschanges for your families to view.

Here’s a summary of the main changes:

  • Route 4 between Arrowtown and Jack’s Point via Malaghans Road and Queenstown (Stanley Street) will run every 30 minutes at peak times (6 - 9am and 3 - 6pm).

  • Route 3 between Kelvin Heights and Quail Rise will also move to a 30-minute peak frequency.

  • Route 2 will continue its current route along Arrowtown - Lake Hayes Road, ending at the Frankton Hub.

  • Route 4 will create a direct route for the first time between Jack’s Point and Arrowtown, via the Queenstown town centre, providing an alternative travel option for Arrowtown residents, while providing an improved connection for the Jack’s Point service that does not require changing buses at the Frankton Hub.

  • Queenstown timetables will reflect more accurate travel times for all timetables, based on traffic volumes at peak and off-peak times, with minor tweaks to times on Routes 1 and 5.

  • All Queenstown routes are affected by the changes.

  • The Queenstown ferry will continue its existing timetable.

Please note, these changes from 30 June are public bus network changes only and are not intended to replace Ministry of Education bus services.  If you have any questions regarding the Ministry of Education bus services, please contact 0800 BUS2SCHOOL or 0800 287 272.
