We are nearing the end of the year, and preparations are well underway for 2024. This week, teachers have been busy making classes for the students in Yr 2,4 and 6 who are moving up curriculum levels and will have new teachers in 2024. Students in Yr 1,3,5 and 7 will roll over with their current teacher and we are excited that routines and expectations will be in place and will allow learning to be underway from day 1 next year.

Last weekend, our Board of Trustees and Senior Leadership team met to unpack our new strategic plan. This guiding document sets goals for the direction of the school over the next 3 years. We had a positive morning and thank Whetu Cormack for facilitating the day.

Our property project has reached an important milestone this week with the approval of a significant grant from the Central Lakes Trust (CLT). Added to this 3 pivotal components of our master plan have been approved by the ministry.

Our junior playground is set for construction in term 1 on the site of the middle school block, which will be demolished early in 2024.
A double all weather astro court will be built. This coincides with the removal of Rm 20, 21, 22, with the land being reshaped to allow for the site of a future senior playground.
Our current netball court will be replaced with a new asphalt surface.

Our board members continue to work hard in the background, seeking funds and meeting with the ministry to include more aspects of our master plan within the current capital works project. In 2025, we hope to deliver a new sandpit and mud kitchen space alongside hard landscaping that reflects the new cultural narrative of our school and a new senior playground.

Our new classroom blocks will be ready for the start of 2024, and I am sure students in Years 5-8 will be excited about moving into these new spaces. We are pleased with how they have been finished internally, with sliding doors to allow for the opening and shutting of spaces, wet areas and plenty of storage. The covered decks with wide steps down to play areas will be a positive addition.
