Principals Message - 12 April 2024

Tēnā koutou

Well, we have made it to the end of Term 1 2024! Thank you to our amazing staff, students and parents who continue to turn up and ‘do the mahi’. Highlights for me would have to be; the awesome Camps, new classroom blocks, stunning landscaping and playground equipment, amazing Board of Trustees who continue to support us, a leadership team who are professional, fun, inspirational and reflective. What more could a principal ask for?

Some of our long term staff have left us or will be leaving us after many years committing time and energy to our school. I wish the following valued staff members all the very best in their new ventures;

  • Carly Blackbourn

  • Ang Gibson

  • Nicky Tall

  • Toni McIntyre

Ā tōna wā ki tōna wāhi

I’ll see you again at some point in time and place.

At the beginning of Term 2, the students will have access to the new junior playground, astro turf courts, basketball and netball courts. I am organising for an official opening with the Ministry of Education and will inform you when the date is confirmed next term. Grass is to be sprayed on the dirt areas and these are surrounded by fences currently to encourage growth. Our staff car park is being extended by 17 parks and the basement under the Hall is being refitted as a community/whānau space and kitchen. Such a lot has happened in the property area over the past 2 years and I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge Board members and Matt Leach for their loyalty and support during this process. As you know, Matt loves getting ‘his teeth into property’ as I do with finance. We make a great team managing these areas of school organisation!

Finally, I wish you all happy times with your families during the holiday break. I am spending these holidays enjoying our region with my family and friends. I am looking forward to not setting the alarm clock, that is for sure.
