Principals Message - 28 March 2024

Nau mai haere mai

I am writing this to you after attending a principals conference in the Bay of Islands.

Matt Leach and I attended together as we believe that shared learning is great for bouncing ideas and wonderings off each other.

The speakers were outstanding;

.Dr Melanie Riwai-Couch who shared her research about creating successful environments    for our Maori Tamariki to learn..Dr Melinda Webber who shared her research about the Mana Model; reconceptualizing student success, thriving and wellbeing. .Nathan Mikaere Wallace who spoke about how the brain works and its development between birth and 27 years old.

Matt and I have come away with so many ‘gems of knowledge’ that we can share with our teachers back at school. I am feeling invigorated from having opportunities to reconnect with colleagues and listen to their stories about their schools. Next week we had intended opening the junior playground but after a defects site visit, a number of small safety items need to be addressed. We are hoping for the following week. Watch this space!

Happy Easter! We will be welcoming your Tamariki back to our kura next Wednesday.
