Tahiti Visit
Last week we were privileged to host both students and kaimahi for AMJ in Tahiti.
This is the school where our seniors visited and stayed last year on their overseas haerenga. It was great to be able to give back and host them for 6 days. They were able to explore Christchurch and even travelled to Hanmer Springs for the day. On the last day before they flew back home, we at Te Pā put on a Cultural day to celebrate and showcase our cultures to each other. Each Puna got to perform a couple of items, and then we got to be memorised by their dancing and culture. It was a great experience for those new to the Tahitian Culture and way of dancing.
After the performances, Our tau 13 pononga and our manuhiri were able to prepare a hangi for their dinner and farewell later that night after returning from Rāpaki.
A huge mihi to all those who jumped in and supported the kaupapa and we look forward to this becoming a regular connection between our two whānau.
