School to Skies

School to Skies —

We are the Air Force School to Skies team, and we have an exciting opportunity coming up for your students!

Kia ora,

School to Skies is a programme run by the RNZAF which gives students around Aotearoa the chance to see if a military aviation career is right for them. In particular, we work with girls who are passionate about STEM to show them the opportunities a career in aviation and/or technical industries can offer.

On 13 December 2022, we are running a School to Skies day at the Air Force Museum in Christchurch. This is a chance for Year 12 girls in the Canterbury Region to experience a wide variety of aviation careers, such as engineer, technician, pilot and more.

We are looking for girls who are:

o In Year 12 during 2022

o Studying mathematics and/or science subjects

o Passionate about STEM

o May be interested in a technical and/or aviation career, or are unsure of their future pathway and want to see what opportunities STEM can offer.

At this free event, students will get the opportunity to:

o Learn the basics of flight and how aircraft work

o Get hands-on experience fixing real aircraft

o Grow confidence in their choice of mathematics and science subjects at school and learn how to apply this knowledge in a real and exciting career pathway

o Mix and mingle with other like-minded individuals from around Canterbury, as well as Air Force personnel who were once just like them, looking to make a decision about their future

Ask questions, hear stories, make like-minded friends and see if an aviation or technical career in the RNZAF could be right for them.

Apply through this link. We have space for up to 20 girls at the event.
