This week in the kihini we were lucky to have purple carrots! Lots of our pononga had never seen these before they were very excited.

Kia Ora whanau, this week we were fortunate enough to have some purple carrots in the kihini, this is so exciting for many of our pononga who had never seen purple carrots before! 
Purple carrots are actually the original carrot from Persia.These amazing carrots have lost their place in mainstream grocery stores as we all think a carrot should be orange right?Carrots can come in may colours purple, red, white, green, orange, yellow or black

Purple carrots are higher in nutrition any other carrot. There have up to 28 times more antioxidant properties than other varieties. This is because of the purple pigment in their fiber which is similar to the antioxidant found in blueberries and raspberries.
