Hautapu is a traditional ceremony about making an offering to the Matariki star cluster.

Two Waikato rangatahi, Hana-Rawhiti Maipi-Clarke and Hawaikii Maipi Ahu, help lead the first contemporary hautapu ceremony in their whānau.

Hana and Hawaikii hope to see the revitalisation of Matariki celebrations like this across Aotearoa.

For Matariki, my whānau held a hautapu ceremony for the first time Re: News

Te Wānanga o Aotearoa has website has a number of great resources to support learning about Te Iwa o Matariki.
