Matariki Junior Disco

Savanah Tukariri - June 25, 2021

Our tamariki had an amazing time at this year's Matariki Disco!

Lights! Music! Party time!

With the first full moon for the māori new year, we danced the night away at the Matariki Junior Disco.

"ngā mihi to all the magic hands I saw packing hangi, digging pits, lighting fires, serving, and all our kaimahi and whānau who work tirelessly to make sure our pononga and whānau are well fed ā tinana, ā wairua, ā hinengaro!"
- Hākui Rangimarie

The Disco was a fundraiser for Te Pā's senior Kapa Haka and all hands were on deck, whether it was running stalls, entry, music or games.

There really was something for everyone, concluding in a Just Dance, dance-off where everyone (matua included) jumped in and took part.

"This is such a beautiful example of tika, pono and aroha...at the end of day the valued support of our whānau and their continued contribution is what matters most! He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata. Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou"
- Koka Krystal

Overall, the disco was a success! Our tamariki had a great time and our senior pononga can create the template for what we hope will be many more Matariki Discos in the future.
