Dyanna Stirling —

Āhea: 14 Hongōngoi 2023, 7am - 8.30am-ish Kei hea: Te Oraka i te wāhi whero (in the Red Zone).

E mahi ana tātou te aha?

For those who did not attend last year - we will be holding a ceremony at Te Oraka in the Red Zone to remember those who have gone, to celebrate the whētu of Matariki and to look forward to the New Year.

The Hautapu ceremony (is in the pamphlet attached to this article) involves us all meeting up at Te Oraka at 7am (yes, it's still dark), where there will be a big bonfire blazing. We gather together, say our karakia, cook the kai and release the steam to feed the whetū. It is a beautiful ceremony and prepares our wairua for the new year to come.

We will also be having a breakfast and coffee cart available (free brekky and hot drink!) so we can whakanoa the ceremony together.
