Te Pa Karikari have been working on a project based on pallet wood. The students would have to make something useful that the school would use out of pallet wood.
In this project I was partnered up with Matariki, and together we were aiming to build something big and useful for Te Pa that is made out of Pallet wood.
So we decided to build a herb planter box. A herb planter box is a big box shaped into a long stair using pallet wood. This would be useful to plant Herbs for the kitchen.
First Matariki and I had a kōrero on what we were going to be making that would be useful.
So we made up our mind to build a herb planter box. Then we made a small model out of paper to show what the herb planter box would look like.
Then my dad and I went to get some wooden pallets to build our planter box. Then we had to take the pallets apart with a special tool and a special air gun to remove all of the nails.
I really enjoyed using the air gun. Then we measured up all of the parts and then cut them using a saw.
Back at Te Pa, Matariki and I assembled all of the parts and screwed them together using long screws and a drill, that was really hard work. But we finally finished and we are really proud of what we made.
lastly we revealed our herb planter box to Whaea Bex and Whaea Saraya.
