On the 16th of September 2022 Te Pa assited Haeata in order to welcome the four kapa teams that qualified Nga Kapa Haka Kura Tuarua o Aotearoa 2022

On the 16th of September 2022 Te Pa assisted Haeata in the powhiri for the four Kapa Haka teams that qualified for the national competition this year.

We all gathered at Haeata and met with the school prior to the teams arriving in order to practice the haka powhiri and a few waiata tautoko. As the groups arrived we all chanted "aha hei runga hei raro" to welcome them into the building. We had two speakers from our side and performed Manu Tiria and Ka Haea Te Ata to support them. There was then a representative from each kura that spoke on behalf of their kapa and were each followed with a waiata or haka by their respective roopu. Once the powhiri had concluded the teachers all went upstairs to discuss the protocol and time schedule for the performances tomorrow while all the students gathered outside to mingle and eat together.
