Natasha Piripi —

Whanau can now apply for transport assistance directly through Te Pā o Rākaihautū.

What does this mean for our Whanau?

Te Pā o Rākaihautu is now registered to receive the Maori Medium Transport Funding as of Term 1 2024.  The purpose of this funding is to provide transport assistance to all eligible pononga.  Te Tautarinui is working towards a plan for 2025 to provide our own bus or vans for multi-site delivery.  For 2024/2025 there will be set rates paid directly to eligible pononga/whanau.

Pononga Eligibility

Eligible pononga must live at least 3.2km (Tau 1-8) or 4.8km (Tau 9 - 13) from Te Pā o Rākaihautū and will receive a payment at the end of term/year into their account to support the transport of their pononga to Te Pā.

Funding Rates

  • Whanau of 1 $5 per timetabled day

  • Whanau of 2 $7 per timetabled day

  • Whanau of 3 $9 per timetabled day

Attendance rates apply and will affect total paid end of term.
