What the food?
Kia ora from the Kihini! The price per egg is not the cheapest egg you can buy, but this is seriously the best quality egg for the price.
!!!🍳🍳Eggs Incredible eggs🍳🍳!!!
I have been thinking about setting up a free range egg co-op at Te Pa. Who will jump on this waka with me?
"Through our kihini supplier we can order bulk trays of eggs from approved free range farms between Rangiora and Ashburton. They are super fresh, they have bright golden yolks and thick well formed whites."
Not all the details are totally finalised but here’s how it would look:
- 1 large tray of free range eggs (30) would cost $14 (to be confirmed but this price is very close) That is 46 cents per egg
- Online payment to be one week in advance and picked up from Pūmanawa on the agreed day.
- Then bring your baking samples to the kihini asap for testing 🍰🍩🍪🥧.
The price per egg is not the cheapest egg you can buy, but this is seriously the best quality egg for the price.
I am a bit of a 🐣Crazy Chicken Lady🐥 so I won’t go on about caged poultry because we all know it is no good. The nutrition in free range eggs is significantly higher than caged eggs. The reason they do have higher nutrition is because the bird has more selection of worms and bugs, green pick and is fed a higher quality grain or mash. These birds are reared with more love and are happier.
Free range eggs contain:
-
Twice as much omega-3 fatty acids than their caged cousins
- Three times more vitamin E.
- Seven times more pro-vitamin A beta-carotene.
- A quarter less saturated fat.
- A third less cholesterol.
Look out on our facebook page for free range co-op, expression of interest.
