An adventure camp for you and your child

The Parenting Place —

Attitude and Parenting Place and combined powers to bring you Tī Kōuka it’s an adventure camp for a parent and their child. We really believe in Tī Kōuka and we know, as well as you do, that young people who are connected at home, find it easier to take on the challenges that life throws them.

What is Tī Kōuka actually about?
Tī Kōuka – cabbage trees – have been used by Māori for generations to navigate changing landscapes. And that’s what this parent-child experience is all about. Over the course of a weekend, parents and their 10-12 year olds will be supported to navigate the changing landscape of their relationship and of the adolescent years.

Most of us don’t look forward to talking about puberty, technology, drugs, alcohol or self-esteem with our kids. We know it’s really important, but it’s difficult to find the right moment, or even know where to start. That’s why Tī Kōuka is so great. You make the time, and we create the space, start the conversation, and give you the tools to make it a memorable experience for all the right reasons.

Tī Kōuka is designed for 10-12 year olds and one of their parents/caregivers. It is hosted by Parenting Place’s team of expert communicators and youth workers who have a reputation for making information engaging and entertaining. There will be challenging and fun activities, good food, great chats and the chance for you and your child to strengthen your relationship.
