Sandra Hastie —

Moving into Alert Level 1 this week, we are pleased to be back to school ‘almost’ as we knew it.

We are now able to host full school Assemblies and Chapel services, sport and other extra-curricular activities are starting again, and we can welcome our wider community to enjoy events and functions back onsite.

It would be remiss of us to not be prepared to move back up the alert levels and for further changes, and we are continuing with stricter hygiene standards and practices around campus, including sanitisers at building entrances and more regular cleaning. It is important to note that at Alert Level 1, all staff and students (including those at higher risk due to underlying health conditions) should be attending school, however, signs of illness should be taken seriously and those showing any symptoms should stay at home.

Last week we launched the Covid-19 Fees Assistance Fund, and I am overwhelmed by the community’s response. Thank you to those who have given so generously; it is heart warming to see the support shown to those who are faced with such challenging times ahead. If you are in a position to help others at this time I invite you to find out more on our Support page here. Our recently launched Community Business Directory has been embraced by our Rangi family and can also be found on the Support page with over 60 listings. Please support our families' businesses if you can.

On Friday 29 May we celebrated Founders’ Day and live streamed it to our community. This was something new for our school, and was well received by around 60 ‘virtual attendees’ on the day. We received some lovely feedback from a number of our Old Girls, including one currently in Bert Sutcliffe Retirement Village in Auckland;

“I would like to thank you for the opportunity to watch this live stream yesterday. It was a delight as I live in Auckland in the Bert Sutcliffe Retirement Village so was able to enjoy a school occasion right here in my lounge. Imagine my delight when I saw the school photo of many years ago, and there I was as the tallest girl in the school at the time so featured in the middle of the back row!”

The full recording of Founders’ Day can be found here.
