Sandra Hastie —

Another week in lockdown, another week of Remote Learning, and another week of indelible stories of our students, staff and families pulling together to ensure the wellbeing and success of our community. I am so proud of you all.

We are currently preparing for a return to campus under Level 2. The timing of this is not currently clear - a decision will likely be made by the government on Monday. Level 2 for schools may operate differently from the historic Level 2, as new mandates and guidelines could be introduced. Once we have a clearer picture of the timing and conditions of Level 2, we will communicate with you all to ensure a safe and smooth transition back to campus life. Our grounds and maintenance staff have been back onsite this week preparing and working with contractors, undertaking a full deep clean and sanitisation including HVAC filters – thank you to the team involved.

The Sport and Multi-Purpose Centre construction has recommenced under Level 3, and there is plenty going on. Should we be back at school next week we need to advise that traffic management on Hewitts Road will be in place on 8th, 9th, 10th and 13th of September to allow for panel installation and concrete pours. Please complete drop-offs and pick-ups from Rossall Street or surrounding streets and avoid Hewitts Road on these dates.

The Selwyn Rangi Bus will be operating under Level 2, however all users will be required to sign in via a QR code for each trip. If students do not have a phone there will be a manual register also. Please note face coverings will also be required to use the service.

A reminder to those of you with students in Years 9 to 12 this year, that our subject choice deadline for 2022 is on Thursday 30 September. We are hosting our Course Selection event on Friday 24 September for students to spend some time exploring options, and the Curriculum Handbook is now available. You can find more about this process in an update from our Assistant Principal – Curriculum here.

I wish you all a fantastic weekend .
