Summer Reading

Isabel Milward —

All students are strongly encouraged to include reading for pleasure as part of their summer holiday activities. Making the most of the opportunity to read for pleasure is relaxing, good for mental health and helps sustain the academic progress of the year. Students return to school in better shape for the next year if they have continued to read through the holiday.

All students (except those leaving the school) are welcome in the library at any time prior to the end of the school term to choose reading for the holiday. The library is also hosting a junior reading expo on Thursday, 30 November for all students in Years 7-10 to select books for holiday reading, so please talk to your students about making the most of this opportunity.

Listening to eAudiobooks provides nearly all the same benefits as reading in print. eAudiobooks (and eBooks) are available 24/7 from the library homepage and can be downloaded within New Zealand. eAudiobooks are great for long car journeys and can be downloaded on to a mobile phone for individual listening or a shared family story.
