Top Scholar Award for Rangi student Alyssa Robinson

Kate Rivers —

Congratulations to Alyssa Robinson who has been presented with the Top Subject Scholarship award for Printmaking, at the Prime Minister’s function at Parliament in Wellington this week.

Alyssa, who was in Year 13 at Rangi Ruru last year, is now enjoying studying Fine Arts at the University of Canterbury.

The Scholarship examinations test high-level critical thinking in addition to specific subject knowledge and the top 3% of students are awarded scholarships.

Alyssa submitted a three panel portfolio and workbook showing her thinking based on concepts of destruction and repair following the Christchurch earthquakes. Her energetic, gestural works developed into elegant abstracted compositions.
