AUT

Art & Design Information Day – Friday 16 July

AUT’s Art & Design Information Day is designed for prospective students who intend to apply for AUT’s art and design undergraduate programmes. The event equips students with the information they need to submit their portfolio to meet admission requirements for the Bachelor of Visual Arts or the Bachelor of Design, and give general information about the courses. The event, hosted at AUT’s City Campus Friday, 16 July, is for any students interested in a Bachelor of Visual Arts (which has pathways in Sculpture and Intermedia, Painting and Printmaking, Photography and Lens Based Media) or a Bachelor of Design (with majors in Communication Design, Interaction Design, Digital Design, Fashion Design, Industrial Design or Spatial Design). It is also the perfect opportunity for students to learn more about AUT’s interdisciplinary minors. There will be morning and afternoon sessions covering each major throughout the day.

Students are also encouraged to bring along their portfolios of work to this event (even if still under development) for feedback and guidance.

School Leavers Scholarship Applications Open at AUT, University of Auckland, Lincoln University, and Massey University

Applications at Canterbury, Otago, Victoria, and Waikato to Open in the Coming Weeks and Months

As our Year 13 students prepare for the next steps they’ll take once they’ve left Rangi, one key question that just about every student has revolves around funding tertiary education. While many scholarship opportunities are available and I am here to help students identify specific scholarships that they might qualify for, those sponsored by universities to assist with accommodations and fees offer an accessible and relatively easy way for most students to take the first step in thinking about ways to make their continued education goals more affordable.

With those goals in mind, I’d suggest that every student considering studying at any of the eight universities here in New Zealand take note of the scholarships set aside specifically for First Year uni students and School Leavers. With applications now open at AUT, University of Auckland, Lincoln University, and Massey University, over the coming weeks and months University of Canterbury, University of Otago, Victoria University of Wellington, and University of Waikato will join these schools in opening their school leavers scholarship applications to students. While most applications will be open through mid-August and into early September, one key to success in earning scholarships is planning, so below you’ll find the open and close dates for all school leaver scholarship opportunities (where available). Year 13 students should also keep an eye on the Year 13 Microsoft Team for information about upcoming Scholarship Writing Seminars and Workshops that will be hosted at Rangi in June and the first weeks of Term 3 and will help each student to craft their scholarship applications in a way that highlights every student’s individual achievements.
