From the Acting Principal

Stephanie Barnett —

We fully appreciate the reasoning behind the strike action and hope that the talks between Government and the Teacher Unions will arrive at an agreement. While we feel fortunate in a number of regards with our conditions of work, our teachers, too, are dealing with increasingly complex, demanding and challenging work expectations. We are also suffering from the teacher shortages as we try to recruit and retain the best people to teach your daughters. Regrettably, many new teachers are choosing alternative, more lucrative pathways and a growing proportion of the teaching workforce are nearing retirement age. Thank you, as parents, for your understanding of the difficult situation that our profession faces.

Year 10 Camp

The year group have been exposed to new landscapes, people, activities and challenges over the past 3 weeks. The weather has gone from summery to winter and the conditions have varied for each group. What is constant are the relationships that develop, the valuable input of the highly qualified and enthusiastic instructors and teachers, the quality of the organisation and oversight and the personal development for each girl. We feel very fortunate that we can offer this unforgettable experience as part of the programme of learning for Year 10.

Archibalds sponsor the 1st XI and Turf

Rangi Ruru is pleased to announce a new partnership with one of Christchurch’s premium car dealers Archibalds Motors Limited and Volvo. Archibalds is the new sponsor of the Rangi Ruru 1st XI and the hockey turf.

The sponsorship was announced at a launch held in the Volvo showroom at Archibalds on Tuesday 4 June. The Guest speaker was Stacey McKerchar, Rangi Old Girl and former Black Stick midfielder.

We are proud of our 1st XI. The team, year after year, perform to their highest ability, play with professionalism and strive to be the best. The team is currently sitting top of the Connetics Secondary School League table with 2 wins and a draw. The girls have already had some tough games this year but have made a solid start as they build towards the premier competition – the Federation Cup.

A big thank you to Archibalds for hosting us on Tuesday but more so for believing in Rangi Ruru and backing our 1st XI.

We look forward to having Archibalds and Volvo alongside us for the 2019 hockey season.
