Be mindful when crossing the road

Kristina Wischnowsky —

Many of us cross Rossall St to get to the Holmwood shops, without using the crossing area and the cars just miss us - be careful it's a busy intersection!

Over recent weeks we've received several near miss notifications of students just being missed by a car as they cross the road to get to the Holmwood shops. This is a busy intersection, especially before and after School. Cars are often backed up for a while as they wait to get around the corner, which can make the driver slightly frustrated and extra eager to go when it's their turn.
As a student or teacher, please take the time to walk down Rossall St to the crossing area. There's a benefit of adding extra steps to your daily step count, plus the risk of a car rushing out from the intersection as you are crossing and contact occurring is greatly reduced.
If you're a driver and have to make your way across this busy intersection, especially before and after School, please take extra care and time to watch out for pedestrians crossing the road.
Taking a few extra steps to cross the road, or minutes to drive around the corner, to ensure a safe road crossing is a wise decision.
