Year 12 & Year 13 Focus Areas

Kristen Fox —

Top Six Areas to Focus on Throughout Year 12 & Year 13

To ensure your daughters' utmost success, it is beneficial to review some areas she should be focused on throughout her year 12 and year 13. These areas are proven to increase her chances of acceptance into top universities, polytechnics, employment, etc. These six areas will ensure that your daughter has developed a full circle of experiences and skills.

Academic - Always do your personal best and remember your Y12 academic record is what universities and polytechs base your offers on, solely because Y13 results have not been released.

Culture - This can be a range of activities including, but not limited to music, dance, drama, language, and Kapa Haka

Community Service - There is a 20 hour requirement in place for Year 12, although Year 13's should continue serving their community throughout their last year of school.

Sport- Any recreational or competitive sport including those that are not organized by Rangi Ruru.

Leadership - This does not have to be a formal leadership position, but rather an experience you have put yourself in where you are leading or facilitating a group.

Recommendations - Develop key relationships at school with staff, teachers, coaches, and administration. The better you know these people, the better recommendations they can write for you.
