What's been and what's coming up

Thanks and Heads-Up

A note from our Nurse on COVID-19
As the seasons change, it’s common for many different bugs to be circulating in our community including coughs, colds and gastro bugs. Adding to these are our current efforts to contain the spread of Novel coronavirus (COVID-19), of which there are now three confirmed cases in New Zealand. One of the most simple and effective steps to prevent the spread of many of these illnesses is hand washing. As a school we are encouraging frequent and thorough handwashing, and we would encourage you and your family to do the same at home.

Please be vigilant with washing hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water and dry them thoroughly (alternatively you can use an alcohol based hand sanitizer) especially:
• before eating or handling food
• after using the toilet
• after coughing, sneezing, blowing your nose

If you are coughing or sneezing, you may be spreading infection, so it is crucial that you cover your mouth with disposable tissues or your elbow.
With any illness we would strongly encourage you and your daughter to be vigilant about staying home if unwell to prevent the spread of infection.
If you have a fever, cough or difficulty breathing, or for any coronavirus health advice please call Health Line on 0800 358 5453.

Swimming Sports
It was unfortunate that we needed to postpone this event yesterday morning. At this stage, with some uncertainty remaining about the pool heating, we are intending to run swimming sports for A Grade competitors only next Thursday 12 March, 1-3.30pm. Parents are welcome to attend. Classes will continue as normal for all students in the morning and for all non-competitors in the afternoon.

Parent Evenings
Again, our thanks for attending these evenings and taking the opportunity to engage with one another as well as with key staff. Our appreciation also goes to members of the PTA and to our catering staff for supporting the social aspect of these evenings. The Year 10 Evening is on Wednesday 11 March in Mana Wahine, beginning at 7pm with refreshments and mingling, followed by key people and information at 7.30pm

Open Day – Friday 27 March
This will be a normal school day with visitors on site between 10am-4pm.

PDPs (Personal Development Plans)
Tutors and your daughters are well underway with these and will be completing them by the end of term.

LPIs (Learning Progress Interviews)
These take place 4-8pm on Thursday 26 March - school will finish at 3pm on this date. There will be another session from 4-8pm on Tuesday 31 March and 1-3pm on Friday 3 April for Boarders. School finishes at 12.30pm on this last day of term.

Personal Belongings
Please ensure that all of your daughter’s more precious belongings do not remain in unsupervised bags, at school overnight or in weekends as we cannot guarantee their safety and security.
