Our talented Rangi Ruru and Christ's College students have been working passionately to bring this captivating story to life, filled with romance, humour, and drama. As Will himself says, "I will have poetry in my life. And adventure. And love. Love above all"

This is what the cast have to say about working on the show:

"The highlight of working on 'Shakespeare in Love' has been bringing such a dynamic story to life with an amazing cast. The mix of drama, comedy, and romance has made every rehearsal exciting, and it’s been incredible to see the production evolve into something truly special", Year 12, Maia Reedy.

Year 13 Drama Students Shine in Solo Devising Projects

From Hedy Lamarr to Marilyn Monroe, the Year 13 Drama students have brought a diverse array of characters to life through their solo devising projects this term. Their hard work and creativity have been truly inspiring. Here are some reflections from the students on their devising journey:

  • "I found the devising process challenging but also very enjoyable, with a lot of creative freedom. Trusting your ideas is key!"

  • "Devising this year was both challenging and rewarding. I am very proud of my performance and learned that I work best under pressure."

  • "The process was quite different from group work. Without anyone to say 'no' to your ideas, you have to step back and evaluate yourself objectively."

  • "Creating a character based on a real person was enlightening and fun. I was proud of my progress and learned that simplicity can be very effective."

  • "Solo devising was daunting yet extremely enjoyable. I learned to trust my instincts and experiment, even though I usually rely on meticulous planning."

  • "Initially, the idea of solo devising was daunting. However, I ended up enjoying it much more than I anticipated. It helped me step out of my comfort zone and appreciate working independently even more."

  • "The devising process was stressful, but it pushed me to think in new ways. The challenges made me reflect deeply, and I emerged with a new perspective."

  • "Solo devising was a daunting task, and I struggled at first. However, I persevered and ultimately enjoyed performing for everyone. The positive reactions made it all worthwhile."

The dedication and growth demonstrated by our Year 13 Drama students are commendable. We look forward to seeing them continue to shine on stage.
