From the Principal

Dr Sandra K Hastie —

Week 1, Term 3

Bruce and I have had a wonderful time touring Eastern Europe and I am very grateful to the Board of Governors for allowing me to have this opportunity to be able to take some time out of school and recharge the batteries. I have to admit that getting off the plane and back into the Christchurch weather has taken some acclimatising to but, without a doubt, there is no place like home!!

I offer my thanks to Stephanie Barnett who was Acting Principal and Tania Morgan, Acting Deputy Principal, while I was away. It was a real comfort to go away and know that Rangi was in great hands. I did manage to keep my eye on the Facebook page while I was travelling and was thrilled to see our Chamber Music Results with two groups achieving the New Zealand National Finals, our choir Resolutions achieving recognition and making the Big Sing Nationals and our Year 9 Netball team placing 4th in the recent South Island Tournament.

I am looking forward to seeing the girls on Monday as they return to school and I do hope that they are well and rested and ready for what is going to be another busy term.

We begin our term with our Founders’ Day Celebration on Friday 2nd August. This is significant given that we celebrate being 130 years old. As it is an official Assembly, I ask that all girls wear their blazers to the service.

The Performing Arts Showcase - “Season to Shine”

With one performance only on the 15th of August at 7.30pm at the Piano some of our most outstanding Performing Arts acts will come together for a showcase that will definitely be full of wow-factor. We are looking forward to seeing an array of performances from dancers, musicians and actors. This is a wonderful event to bring the extended family to, especially Grandparents and younger siblings and friends and I do encourage you all to purchase your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
