Global Development Tour

Kristen Fox —

Applications now open!

Returning for 2020, the Global Development Tour (GDT) is an unparalleled educational experience for young global citizens.

United Nations Youth New Zealand presents an opportunity for any year 12 and 13 students leaving secondary school after 2019. United Nations Youth is a youth civics education organisation, providing young high schoolers with fun and interactive workshops, as well as the opportunity to travel overseas on study tours.

Each year, the organisation runs the prestigious ‘Global Development Tour’ which provides an unparalleled educational experience for students.

This year the Global Development Tour travels to New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, and Rome from January-February 2020. The tour will educate 22 of New Zealand’s brightest high schoolers on the inner machinations of the United Nations global network, as well as the role of the Sustainable Development Goals in development across the world. It gleans insight into global citizenry, spanning cities, agencies and key players at the forefront of progressing our world forward.

We intend to visit, as we have in the past, the United Nations headquarters in New York, NZ embassies, Global Public Policy Institute, as well as UN Women. We also will return to the Columbia Model United Nations and Exposition 2020 hosted in New York to provide delegates with the opportunity to represent team New Zealand on the global stage (see cmunce.org).

Applications are open, and will close on the Sunday 23 June at midday.
