Sandra Hastie —

This week we celebrated Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori (Maori Language Week), in a number of different ways. From our staff and students focussing on a te reo ‘word of the day’ each day, to the whole school coming together for waiata on Monday. I’m very proud of the way our girls and staff embraced te reo and our cultural diversity.

Last week our Senior Production with Christ’s College, Evita took place over five days. Under Level 2 we were restricted to 100 people in each live performance, however, we live streamed the show across a number of satellite theatres enabling all ticket holders to enjoy the performance. And what a performance it was! Both our girls and the Christ’s College boys should be incredibly proud of the level of professionalism, polish and energy they brought to every show.

Our 1st XI Football team had a great 4-0 win over Avonside Girls School this week in their Division 2 final, meaning they will be moving to Division 1 next season. Well done girls, and coach Glen Senior.

We have some great events coming up early in Term 4, so put these dates in your calendar! On Tuesday 20 October we are hosting our first and only ‘Friends at Five Thirty’ for 2020, with some amazing speakers lined up - for more information and tickets click here.

Don’t miss out on the one night we come together as parents and caregivers to celebrate our special Rangi community with drinks, canapes and a special musical performance. ‘Spring Soiree’ is on Friday 30 October – for more information and tickets please click here.

On Sunday, I am heading to Hanmer Springs with our Year 12 group to take part in their camp. This is very much a highlight for me each year, and a great opportunity for me to spend time with the girls outside the school environment. A good reminder to us all, especially closing into the end of a busy Term 3, that it is important to take time away from our ‘normal’ every so often, to reset and recharge.
